Riot police have been busy
this sunny Sunday morning in central Lisbon clearing a tent camp erected by
protesters as thousands gathered to condemn soaring housing costs.
While housing costs are
already ill-affordable for many citizens, the Portuguese centre-right minority
government is planning a housing bill that activists say would worsen the
current crisis.
The Reuters news agency
has repeated a recent claim that Portugal is gripped with one of worst housing
crises in the whole of Europe.
Despite the police
activity the protesters show no signs of giving up.
